North Dallas homeowner shoots intruder
DALLAS — A suspected burglar is dead and another is on the run after an attempted home invasion in North Dallas around midnight Sunday.
Police said two men knocked on the door of a home at about 11:50 p.m. Sunday in the 5600 block of Harvest Hill Road just south of Interstate 635 near the Dallas North Tollway.
When the resident answered, one robber pointed a handgun at him and demanded money, Dallas police Senior Cpl. Kevin Janse said.
The homeowner grabbed a gun and fired.
“He was protecting himself,” Cpl. Janse said. “He did not know the guys.”
The man who was struck ran down a stairwell and collapsed. He was declared dead at Medical City Dallas Hospital.
A second suspect fled the scene. It was not clear whether he was hurt.
If you have information about the crime, call Dallas police at 214-671-3584.
